You spent months earning good reviews. Then a client finds you on LinkedIn and asks, "Do you have proof?" Your best reviews are on Upwork, where that client can't see them. Here's how to fix that.
If you want the bigger picture, read How to Prove Your Freelance Work History to Clients.
1. Make your profile public
Upwork only lets you share feedback if your profile is public. It's also the page a client sees when you send your link. Check this first.
2. Share feedback with Upwork's own button
You have two ways to do it:
- Right after a contract ends. A pop-up asks if you want to share the feedback on LinkedIn.
- Any time later. Open your profile, scroll to "Work history" and select "Share feedback". You can post to LinkedIn, X or Facebook.
One catch: the star rating may not appear in the shared post. It only shows when the client gave you five stars.
3. Keep your testimonials visible
Testimonials are feedback from clients you worked with outside Upwork. Upwork doesn't take new testimonial requests anymore. The ones already on your profile stay there, and you choose whether to show or hide them.
They don't change your Job Success Score.
4. Put your profile link where clients look
Add your public Upwork link to:
- your proposals
- the Featured section on LinkedIn
- your website
- your email signature
Clients then read the review on the original page. That's better than a screenshot, because they can see it's real.
5. Keep your own record
Platforms change their rules and profiles change too. Don't depend on one place. For each review, save:
- the exact text, with no edits
- the project name, date and rating
- the link to the original review, plus a screenshot
If you quote a review on your own website, keep the exact words, say it's from Upwork and add the date. Ask the client first if you want to use their name.
Four things not to do
- Don't edit a client's words. Even a small change can make a real review look fake.
- Don't use reviews for work you didn't do. Only show what you earned.
- Don't move work or payments off Upwork unless you follow its rules. Keep talking on Upwork until a contract starts. If the client came from Upwork, keep future work and payments there unless you use its conversion process.
- Don't hide the bad ones. A profile with only perfect reviews looks suspicious. Clients notice.
Provedwork
Want to keep your reviews and proof in one place?
I built Provedwork for this. Full disclosure: it's my product.
You add an Upwork review with a link to the original. We open that original on Upwork and compare it with what you submitted. If it matches, the review gets a Platform verified label.

Questions people ask
Can I export my Upwork reviews?
I couldn't find a built-in export on Upwork's Help pages. What you can do is save each review yourself: the exact text, date, rating, link and a screenshot. See step 5.
Can I put my Upwork reviews on my website?
Yes, if you keep the words exactly as written, say they're from Upwork and add the date. Ask the client first if you'll use their name. Linking to your public profile is the safest way to let people check the original.
Can I request an Upwork testimonial now?
No. Upwork doesn't accept new testimonial requests. Testimonials already on your profile stay, and you can show or hide them.
Do Upwork testimonials change my Job Success Score?
No.
Will my star rating show when I share a review?
Only if the client gave you five stars. Otherwise the shared post may not include the rating.
Does Provedwork replace Upwork?
No. Your reviews stay on Upwork. Provedwork gives you one place to show them with a link to the original, so clients can check them.
